The 2011–2012 academic year promises to be exciting and eventful for New York State’s teachers of science. We finally have received the National Research Council’s new Framework for Science Education; Achieve, Inc., the nonprofit educational organization responsible for the Common Core Standards in Mathematics and English Language Arts is gearing up to produce the Next Generation Science Standards; and newly appointed Commissioner of Education Dr. John King has recommended the creation of a domain-specific advisory panel to advise on the revision of New York State Standards for Science.
